On October 4, 2025, the grand performance of “K-Ssaulabi Martial Arts Demonstration” opened magnificently at the plaza of the Baekje Cultural Complex in Buyeo, marking one of the highlight events of the 71st Baekje Cultural Festival.
Under the theme “Revival of the Baekje Warrior Spirit,” the performance vividly reinterpreted the loyalty of General Gyebaek and the brave spirit of Baekje warriors, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The demonstration was held four times (Oct 4–7) and featured traditional martial arts performances, including the Seven-Branched Sword dance, Princess Gyesan’s twin-sword dance, combat swordplay and archery, and the composite bamboo-cutting finale. Each sequence beautifully combined artistry and combat spirit, creating a living historical drama.
One of the most impressive moments was the sword dance of Princess Gyesan, which expressed both the elegance and strength of Baekje women. The performance reached its climax with thrilling sword and archery displays, ending in a breathtaking bamboo-cutting scene that drew loud cheers from the crowd.
The event was led by the Korea Ssaulabi Martial Arts Troupe, organized by the Baekje Traditional Martial Arts Institute and the Korea 24 Martial Arts Promotion Association. This group continues to play a vital role in promoting traditional Korean martial arts on the global stage, symbolizing the legacy and loyalty of the Baekje spirit.
More than a performance, this event served as a cultural and historical expression of Baekje’s identity—reviving the spirit of courage, loyalty, and artistry that defines the heart of Korean tradition.
